We have created a secure SharePoint folder where learner work must be uploaded. In addition, we've introduced additional security to access this folder using multi-factor authentication (MFA). This is an extra measure to protect user, centre and learner data.

Step-by-step guide for accounts that are not linked to a Microsoft service

You will receive an invitation e-mail from invites@ukqualifications.pearson.com with the subject 'Pearson_Quals invited you to access applications within their organization', which will allow you to register your Guest Account for multi-factor authentication.

  1. Navigate into the e-mail and then click on the 'Accept invitation' link to begin the registration process:
     

  2. You will be taken to a page that will prompt you to create your guest Microsoft account. Click the 'Next' button to continue:
     
  3. You will be asked to verify your e-mail on the next page:

    A security code will be sent to your inbox from account-security-noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com with the subject 'Verify your email address' that needs to be typed into the relevant section. An example of the e-mail can be found below:
  4. You will then be asked to provide some basic details as part of the setup process. Please provide the details as instructed and click the 'Next' buttons to continue:
     
    There is a second page to complete this process:
  5. You may then be asked to perform a simple verification step to prove you are human. Please follow the instructions on the screen to complete this:
  6. You will then be asked to review the permissions and Pearson's privacy statement. Please click on the 'Accept' button to continue:
  7. You will now be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication via the Microsoft Authenticator app, to keep your account secure. Click the 'Next' button to continue:
  8. You will be prompted to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart device. Once you have this installed, click the 'Next' button to continue:
  9. Click 'Next' to continue setting up your account:
  10. From the main screen of the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart device, select the '+' icon (found towards the top-right of the screen) to begin adding the account:
  11. On the next screen, select 'Work or school account' to continue:
  12. On the popup that appears, select 'Scan a QR code' to continue:
  13. The app will now use your camera to allow the scanning of a QR code:
  14. Your browser should now display a QR code onscreen, which you need to scan with your smart device. Align the code so that it is contained within the onscreen square. After the QR code has been scanned, click 'Next' to continue:
  15. An approval code will now be displayed in your browser:
  16. Approve the notification on the Microsoft Authenticator app by entering the number as shown on the browser, then pressing 'YES':
  17. After you have completed the previous steps, you will then see a confirmation screen on your browser. Click 'Next' to continue:
  18. You will then be notified that set up is successful. Click the 'Done' button to complete your registration:

    You will also see that the account has been added to the Microsoft Authenticator app, with 'Pearson_Quals' in the account name reference:

    You should now be taken to an Apps dashboard page on your browser:

    You have now successfully registered your guest account and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app for multi-factor authentication. No further action is needed at this stage, once you have received your SharePoint folder link, please follow the steps in the Accessing SharePoint Folders With Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) article to continue.
Step-by-step guide for accounts that are already linked to a Microsoft service
