Pearson Onscreen Platform (POP): Retrieving Learner Response Files

Please follow this guide to retrieve the learner response files from your computers.

This guide is separated into multiple sections, depending on which software and which mode you have used to complete the test. Please note: if the test has been taken in Online mode, either on the PAD website (https://btecng.pearson.com/pqs.web.ccpd) or using the Test Player, it will not be possible to recover the learner's answers.

There are currently 3 different types of software; clicking on a step will take you directly to the instructions. Please follow the instructions based on which software has been used to complete the test:

  1. Test completed using the Test Player application (LAN)

  2. Test completed using the Test Player application (Offline)

  3. Test completed using the Pearson Offline Platform / Offline Dashboard

1. Test completed using the Test Player application (LAN)

These instructions apply for tests prepared on the Administrator Dashboard and completed on the Test Player

Before checking the locations below, please log in to the Administrator Dashboard, go to List Orders and click the Monitor Learner Progress icon. You can press 'Upload responses' here if there are any responses outstanding that have not uploaded. If you can not upload the responses from here, please check the following locations.

The response files can be found in 3 locations. Try the first location to start with, and if the files aren't available there, then try the next one.

a) Computer where the Exam Centre Service is installed: C:\DataStore\Responses

  • Within the Responses folder, there will be a folder with the Order Number as a name, and within that folder, there will be files named after the Learner Number with extension .response
  • For example C:\DataStore\Responses\12345678\87654321.response

b) Computer where the test was completed on the Test Player: C:\Users\[Windows user who was logged in for the test]\AppData\Local\TdpClientData

  • Within the TdpClientData folder, there will be multiple files with a combination of letters and numbers as a name and extension .prn and .tmp. We need the whole TdpClientData folder to generate a response file out of these temporary files
  • Please note that it's not always guaranteed that the response file can be generated out of these files. If you experienced technical difficulties and the candidate wasn't able to press Finish and complete the test, the response file most likely cannot be generated

c) Computer where the Exam Centre Service is installed: C:\DataStore\RecoveryData

  • Within the RecoveryData folder, there will be a folder with the Order Number as a name, and within that folder, there will be another folder named after the Learner Number
  • Within the learner number folder, there will be multiple files with a combination of letters and numbers as a name and extension .prn and .tmp. We need the whole learner number folder to generate a response file out of these temporary files
  • Please note that it's not always guaranteed that the response file can be generated out of these files. If you experienced technical difficulties and the candidate wasn't able to press Finish and complete the test, the response file most likely cannot be generated

2. Test completed using the Test Player application (Offline)

These instructions apply for tests downloaded from the btecng.pearson.com website and completed on the Test Player

The response files can be found in 2 locations:

a) Computer where the test was completed:

  • Please navigate to the location where the package file downloaded from btecng.pearson.com has been saved to. There will be a new file generated after the exam is finished named after the combination of the learner and order numbers with extension .pkg
  • For example, C:\Users\[user]\Desktop\test\12345678_87654321.pkg

b) Computer where the test was completed: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\TdpClientData

3. Test completed using the Pearson Offline Platform / Offline Dashboard

These instructions apply for tests downloaded from the POP Assessor Dashboard (PAD) website and completed on the Offline Dashboard

Before checking the location below, please try to log in to the Offline Dashboard (https://popoffline.pearson.com:8080) on the computer where the test was completed, using the PIN you originally used to access the test. Go to 'Pending uploads' and upload the response if possible. If you can not upload the responses from here, please check the following location.

The response files can be found in the following location:

Computer where the test was completed: C:\Program Files (x86)\Pearson\Offline Platform\Web sites\OfflineDashboard\App_Data\LearnerAnswers

  • There will be a file named after the combination of the order number, learner number and the timestamp
  • For example, 12345678_87654321_01022022.pkg
