FAQ
Special consideration
A candidate's examination performance can sometimes be affected by circumstances out of their control. Special consideration is a post-examination adjustment that compensates candidates who were suffering from a temporary illness or condition or who were otherwise disadvantaged at the time of the examination.
Please note: That absence from an examination is not sufficient to approve a special consideration application, as it would be expected that a learner resits the assessment in the next assessment window. A special consideration would only be required if the learner has no further opportunities to take the assessment and is being certificated. For further guidance please see Page 8 of the JCQ Guide to the Special Consideration process.
Exams officers may apply for special consideration on a candidate’s behalf.
Deadline
All applications for special consideration must be made within seven days of the last examination of the series.
