Special Consideration
A candidate's examination performance can sometimes be affected by circumstances out of their control. Special consideration is a post-examination adjustment that compensates candidates who were suffering from a temporary illness or condition or who were otherwise disadvantaged at the time of the examination.
Please note: That absence from an examination is not sufficient to approve a special consideration application, as it would be expected that a learner resits the assessment in the next assessment window. A special consideration would only be required if the learner has no further opportunities to take the assessment and is being certificated.
For further guidance, please see JCQ Access Arrangements, Reasonable Adjustments and Special Consideration webpage.
Exams officers may apply for special consideration on a candidate’s behalf.
