What is Access to Scripts?

Available for all GCSE, International GCSE, AS, A level and BTEC qualifications from results day,
The Access to Scripts service provides a rich source of information, enabling detailed analysis to inform teaching and learning and support students - giving insights and visibility that performance data alone cannot provide.

This service is available for any exam paper that has been marked online. You can still request free script copies which have not been marked online, but these will not appear on the script portal.

This service is not available for T Levels.

What is the Access to Scripts self-service portal?

  • The online portal allows you to view your candidates’ marked scripts online or download them as a PDF, which is included as part of your qualification fees.
  • It is a self-service portal via Edexcel Online, giving you instant access to scripts.*
  • You will be able to evaluate how your candidates performed on particular questions and how that is reflected in their final grade.
  • It will help you identify skills gaps to tailor future teaching plans.
*This service is available for any exam paper that has been marked online. You can still request free script copies that have not been marked online, but these will not appear on the script portal.

Candidate consent

Please note Candidate consent is required before requesting script copies, as per section 4.2. of the JCQ's Post-results services guideCandidate consent can only be obtained after results have been published.

You can use the Access to Scripts service to help decide if you wish to request a review of marking.

Please take note of the deadlines for requesting a review of marking for different qualifications, as requests submitted after the deadlines will not be accepted.
Detailed Instructions

Getting started

The self-service portal can only be accessed by Edexcel Online users with the 'Exam Viewer' profile ticked on their account. If you don't have access, please speak to your exams officer/centre administrator to provide access to 'Exam Viewer'.

If you already have a username and password, you should request access to the self-service portal from your centre administrator. If you do not have a username and password, you should request an account from your exams officer/centre administrator.

If scripts have been marked 'traditionally' (i.e. not online), you will need to request them, free of charge, by the published deadline via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in the previous exam series.

Please see: Post-Results Services (PRS): Access To Scripts / How To Apply For Traditionally Marked Scripts.

Access to Scripts Service FAQs

Script not showing on Script Viewer

The script viewer service will not be available for a paper that has been modified (or in any other circumstances, such as a paper being damaged or if the candidate has written in anything but a black pen that prevents it from being traditionally scanned).

In some instances, scripts cannot be electronically marked, and such scripts will not be available on the self-service portal.

To find out how to request copies of these scripts, please see Post-Results Services (PRS): Access To Scripts / How To Apply For Traditionally Marked Scripts.
