Pearson Onscreen Platform (POP): Pearson Assessor Dashboard (PAD) Test Walkthrough
This article gives an overview of the steps required to run a test that has already been booked on Edexcel Online. This covers Offline and Online tests. If the software is not yet installed, please follow the installation guide.
- Log in to the Pearson Assessor Dashboard (PAD) with the PAD username (this is an account that has been created on https://btecng.pearson.com). If your centre is not yet set up for onscreen testing, please complete the Onscreen Testing Declaration Form on this page. If your centre is already set up for onscreen testing but you need your own account, please complete the Additional User Form on the same page.
- If the account has access to multiple subsites, check that the correct subsite for the test booking is selected. You can change the subsite by going to the dropdown menu in the top-right, then 'Switch Centre' and select from the list.
- Make sure that 'Active Bookings' is selected and choose a date range under 'Exam date' that includes the date of the test you are running. If the page does not automatically refresh, press the Refresh icon in the bottom right.
- Select the desired test using the radio button.
Starting the test:
- Press 'Launch Test' in the bottom left.
- A new tab will open with an alert. Select 'Open WinTDP', but do not tick the tickbox to always allow btecng.pearson.com to open links of this type.
- The test player will start to load and show a grey screen as the test loads. Once the test has finished loading, there is an option to 'Start Test'.
- If you have not yet generated a PIN, click the dropdown menu in the top-right and select 'Generate Pin', then 'Generate PIN' again on the new screen. 'Your TDP PIN' is used to log in to the Offline Dashboard.
- Press 'Download Test' in the bottom left.
- A new tab opens. Click the button to 'Confirm download of offline exam package'.
- This opens the Offline Dashboard in a new tab and asks to enter the PIN then press 'Login'. On the previous tab, you can see that the test has downloaded successfully if all four checks have passed.
- The Offline Dashboard will show the downloaded test(s) and you can search by date if required.
- Select the 'Declaration' and press 'Launch'.
- A new tab will open with an alert. Select 'Open WinTDP', but do not tick the tickbox to always allow popoffline.pearson.com:8080 to open links of this type.
- The test player will start to load and show a grey screen as the test loads. Once the test has finished loading, there is an option to 'Start Test'.
- For section-based tests, once the learner gets to the end of a section they will have a chance to review their answers for that section. However, after moving on to the next section there is no way to go back to the previous section.
- There is a chance to review the learner's answers at the end of the test. If it is a section-based test, the learner can review the answers from that section only.
Online Tests
When the learner completes an online test the response uploads automatically to be marked.
Offline Tests
- When the test is finished, the Test Player will close and open the Offline Dashboard again. Enter the PIN and press 'Login'.
- The Offline Dashboard will automatically ask if you want to upload pending tests, which you can do immediately if you have an active internet connection.
- Selecting 'Yes' will open a new window, and update to say 'Done' when the upload is complete.
- If you need to upload the tests at a different time, log in to the Offline Dashboard (https://popoffline.pearson.com:8080/) once you have an internet connection and select the 'Pending Upload' option
- Press 'Upload' and this will also open a new window that says 'Done' when the upload is complete.
- Completed and uploaded tests appear in the 'Archived' section
- Completed tests where the responses have uploaded move to the 'Completed Exam Bookings' tab on the dashboard.
