FAQ

Malpractice Appealing a Staff Sanction.jpg

The head of centre or a designated staff member may appeal against a finding of malpractice and/or sanction on behalf of a member of centre staff. A member of centre staff or personnel contracted to a centre (e.g. an external invigilator) may appeal against a finding of malpractice and/or the sanction imposed on him/her.

We will allow the head of centre (or designated member of the centre's senior management team or examination manager) or staff member 14 calendar days from the receipt of the malpractice/maladminstration outcome to lodge an appeal against the decision. Pearson will usually reject appeals made outside of this timescale.

Appeals should be submitted using our webform.

Please note: It is expected that centres will submit applications to appeal using the webform linked above. We do not accept applications to the email inbox and we do not accept applications by post, other than in exceptional circumstances.

Section 2 of the JCQ appeals booklet provides important information about appealing malpractice sanction and should be read in full before submitting an application for a malpractice appeal.

The head of centre or a designated staff member or staff member/contractor who has had a sanction imposed should state as clearly and concisely as possible the grounds for the appeal and must include any further evidence relevant to supporting the appeal.
