The head of centre or a designated staff member may appeal against a finding of malpractice and/or sanction on behalf of a learner. A private candidate may appeal directly to us.

Please fill in the JCQ/App 1 form, which can be found in the JCQ appeals booklet. Section 2 of the JCQ appeals booklet provides important information about appealing malpractice sanction and should be read in full before submitting an application for a malpractice appeal.

The head of centre or a designated staff member should state as clearly and concisely as possible the grounds for the appeal and must include any further evidence relevant to supporting the appeal.

Appeals should be made within 14 calendar days of receiving the malpractice decision. Pearson will usually reject appeals made outside of this timescale.

A member of the regulation team will then contact the head of centre to acknowledge receipt of the appeal application and advise on the next steps of the process.

Please be aware that internal candidates and/or their parents/carers are not entitled to appeal, and it is the head of centre’s decision as to whether to proceed with an appeal subject to your centre’s internal appeals arrangements.
