FAQ

We've created the Pearson application portal, where you'll find all the services that you have access to in one place. This includes Edexcel Online and other apps such as ResultsPlus and Exam Wizard.

Step-by-step guide/FAQs:
We're introducing additional security to EOL using Multi-factor authentication (MFA). This is an extra measure to protect user, centre and learner data.

Edexcel Online (EOL) has been used in the example.

The following services can be accessed via the application portal. Applications you see will be based on the options ticked in your Edexcel Online (EOL) account:

  • Edexcel Online
  • Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Sequencing Tool (Demo version)
  • Exam Wizard
  • LWT - Examination/Moderation
  • LWT - Standards Verification
  • Pearson Development Hub
  • ResultsPlus
  • Support Portal
  • T Level Learner and Order
  • T Level Results

Please select from the options below to expand and view the corresponding support:

Logging into Pearson applications via the Pearson application portal

To log into Pearson applications via the Pearson application portal, please see the following instructions.

We have used Edexcel Online (EOL)  as the example:

1. Use the following link: https://userportal.pqs.pearsonprd.tech/. This takes you to the page below.
2. Enter your EOL username and password. Next, click on 'Sign in'

3. A passcode will be sent to the Pearson Authenticator app. Open the app on your mobile device and either copy or make a note of the passcode.

For further information, including downloading the app to your mobile device and using it to complete the sign-in process. Please see Pearson Portal Authenticator for details.

Please note: Passcodes last for 60 seconds; they will update in the Pearson Authenticator app every 30 seconds automatically:

4. Go to the Pearson Application Portal screen on your computer and enter the passcode, then click 'Authenticate':

5. If you enter a passcode without the required number of digits, you will see the following error message:

6. Once the correct passcode is entered, you will see the below message; click 'Done':

8. You will see various Pearson apps linked to your EOL permissions, i.e., you only see the T level apps if you have that option ticked in your EOL account.

Click on the 'Edexcel Online' tile:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Select the question from the list below to expand and view the corresponding answer:

Q: What is the Pearson application portal?

A: The Pearson application portal allows you to access all your authorised apps in one place. This includes Edexcel Online (EOL) and other apps such as ResultsPlus and Exam Wizard.

Q: What username and password do I use?

A: Please ensure you enter your existing EOL username and password. You must use a valid email address as your username.

Q: I can't remember my password.

A: 1. If you have forgotten your EOL login password, from the login page, click on the 'Forgot password?' link:

2. On the forgot password page, enter your Edexcel Online username in the box (the email address used to create your account), then click on 'Submit':

If you are not sure what your username is, please ask your Examinations Officer/Centre Administrator for your details.

3. You will see a confirmation message advising that we have sent you an email containing password reset instructions:

4. Open the 'Password Reset Request' email and click on the 'Reset' link.

Please note: The reset link expires after 24 hours and is only valid for a single use:

Please note: This email will come from noreply@notifications.pearson.com. If you do not receive anything within 5 minutes, please check these points:

  • Did you enter the correct email address in the username field?
  • Has a junk/spam mail filter intercepted our email? – Please ask your IT department to check for any messages sent from noreply@notifications.pearson.com.

Your password must be changed within 24 hours of receiving the email. Please repeat the above steps to request a new link if this window is missed.

It is best practice to change your password regularly, using a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters for extra security.

5. A new browser tab will open with a page that will allow you to enter a new password, ask you to confirm the password entered and then process the request by clicking 'Submit'.

Guidance on our password rules can be found in the 'How to choose a password - rules and security considerations' section below.

6. You will then see a message confirming that your password has been successfully reset:

How to choose a password - rules and security considerations.

We have introduced password strengthening measures on the Pearson portal (as well as the systems accessed through the portal, which includes Edexcel Online). The mandatory requirements are that passwords:

  • must contain a minimum of 8 characters
  • must contain at least one numerical character
  • must contain at least one upper-case letter
  • must not contain your username
  • must not be a match for one of our flagged 'vulnerable’ passwords (these are a combination of commonly used passwords and passwords that have been flagged as ‘at risk’)

The Pearson Portal allows the use of the following special characters:

~ (Tilde)` (Backtick)! (Exclamation mark)@ (At sign)# (Hash or Pound sign)$ (Dollar sign)
% (Percent sign)^ (Caret)& (Ampersand)* (Asterisk)( (Open parenthesis)) (Close parenthesis)
_ (Underscore)- (Hyphen or Minus)+ (Plus sign)= (Equals sign){ (Open brace) } (Close brace)
[ (Open bracket)] (Close bracket)| (Vertical bar or Pipe) \ (Backslash)/ (Forward slash): (Colon)
; (Semicolon)" (Double quote) ' (Single quote or Apostrophe)< (Less than sign)> (Greater than sign)  , (Comma)
. (Period or Dot)? (Question mark)

Best practice tips

  • Use special characters randomly throughout your password. This is an effective way of ensuring a secure password.
  • Don't reuse passwords. It is not recommended that you use the same password across multiple platforms because if one system is compromised, all others that use the same password are at risk.
  • Don't use personal information. This will often be the first thing that a bad actor would try.
  • The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recommend using three random words, which means you are creating a password that will be ‘strong enough’ to keep bad actors out, but easy enough for you to remember. We understand that using three random words alone wouldn't meet all the above password requirements, so in conjunction with this we would also suggest substituting some letters for numbers and / or special characters.
Technical requirements before attempting a password reset

The ‘Reset your password’ e-mail is sent from noreply@notifications.pearson.com. Please ensure you have also allowed this e-mail address in your network / firewall / quarantine setup.
