Centres will need to upload candidate work created during the examination for marking via LWT, which is available to access via Edexcel Online (EOL). Centres should NOT send candidate work by post for marking. If there any issues, centres must contact Pearson Customer Support.
Key dates and detailed information are in the Instructions for the Conduct of the Examination (ICE) v1.7 - Summer 2024
Step-by-step guidance videos are also available from the LWT support index: Learner Work Transfer (LWT).
Centres are required to log in to Edexcel Online (EOL) and locate 'Learner Work Transfer' on the EOL menu, then click on 'Examination/Moderation'. Please do not select a qualification:
Centres can also use the following URL to access this service: https://lwt.pqs.pearsonprd.tech/
Please note if you are currently experiencing issues with your username/password for Edexcel Online (EOL), this will also be true for Learner Work Transfer (LWT).
If a centre user is linked to multiple sites, you will need to select a “Learning Provider” from the drop-down menu before being able to view the dashboard:
You will then be automatically presented with a list of all candidates entered for the unit.
If you have additional learners who have not yet been entered, you should make these entries by following the usual process (please see: Entries: Making Entries (UK) or Entries: Making Entries (International) for additional guidance). The request should be updated within 3 working days for the candidate details to show within LWT.
If you have additional candidates who still need to be entered, please make entries for them through the usual process, which should be updated within 24 hours. We strongly recommend that this be done well before the assessment date, as the LWT portal must have all candidates entered for the exam listed.
If you have started uploading evidence when new entries have been added, the request will show a status of 'In Progress (C)' to denote a change:
An example of the Learner Work Transfer (LWT) dashboard is shown below:
- The 'To Do' tab will display requests awaiting the centre to start uploading candidate work.
- The 'In Progress' tab shows requests where the centre has started to upload work but has not yet submitted the request for assessment.
- The 'Completed' tab shows requests which have already been submitted for assessment.
Click on the 'To Do' option, then select the 'Examination' tab (near the top of the page) to see Examination requests:
Click on the 3 vertical dots on the right of the request, then click 'View Learners' to open the request:
You will be presented with a list of all learners entered for the unit:
To upload learner evidence for assessment, you can click on 'Drop files here or Browse' under a learner.
Centres will be able to click on the zip file to upload, then click 'Open'. Alternatively, files can be dragged from your computer onto the grey area of the page, where it states, 'Drop files here':
Once the zip file is uploaded, the file status will move to an 'Uploaded' state:
During the 'Upload' state, the files are virus checked. Also, the system is checking that the files are not password protected and are in an accepted file format - (please see: Learner Work Transfer (LWT): Supported File Formats for additional guidance). If you upload files using the Browse or drag and drop options, you do not need to wait until these checks are completed to submit the request.
If you choose to submit the request before the file checks are complete, you should check back the following day to confirm whether the request has been submitted or not.
If an issue was identified after the checks were completed, the request would show as 'Not Submitted' on the 'In Progress' tab of the Examination dashboard.
If you need to exit the request at any point, these checks will continue in the background.
If the checks are successful, the status will show as 'Accepted':
If the checks are unsuccessful, the status will show as 'Rejected':
For 'Rejected' files, hover your cursor over the warning red triangle to view the reason for rejection and then take appropriate remedial action:
Click on the 'X' next to the file name to remove the rejected file. If you have uploaded an incorrect document, click the 'X' next to the file name to remove the incorrect file:
Centres must ensure any candidates who were absent for the assessment have their status changed to "Absent" using the "Status" dropdown. If the candidates work is not available, for example, where special considerations are being applied, the status should be changed to "No Evidence".
Please note: Special consideration should be completed via an application following the usual process.
Once you have at least one file uploaded per learner and indicated their Status (Absent/No evidence), you can use the 'Submit Request' option at the top of the screen and also from the 'In Progress' dashboard:
Once a request has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation message, and you must click 'OK' to proceed:
This will send the request to your examiner, and you will no longer be able to add, edit or remove evidence.
The 'Completed' tab will then show the requests that have been submitted for assessment. If the examiner finds that the wrong material has been uploaded, they can return the request to the centre. You should receive an email from the examiner or Pearson. This will show in the 'In Progress' tab with the status "Returned”. You can then add or remove files before resubmitting the exam component.
If your centre identifies the incorrect documents have been uploaded and submitted, please contact the Customer Support Team for the request to be returned. When submitting a case query through the Support Portal, please click here for details on completing the web form.
Additional step-by-step guidance and instructional videos are available here; these cover logging in, navigating the system, and managing requests.
At the end of the examination, candidate work created onscreen during the examination must be prepared for marking.
Invigilators or IT Technicians should ensure that the COMPLETED CODING folder for each candidate, containing all the files, are zipped.
Each candidate’s zip folder should contain at least the six files that were created during the examination.
To identify each candidate’s work easily, the naming convention for the zip folder should follow:
CENTRENUMBER_CANDIDATENUMBER_SURNAME_FORENAME
For example, Adam Smith, with candidate number 0123 and centre number 12345, will have the work in a folder titled: 12345_0123_SMITH_ADAM (forenames may be shortened if necessary but must remain unique, e.g. SMITH_A). In this folder, there will be the six files created during the examination. This zipped folder now needs to be uploaded to Learner Work Transfer (LWT).
An example below shows a candidate’s zip folder containing, in this example, six files created during the examination:
Please ensure that the correct work is placed in the correct folder to avoid any delay and confusion during marking.
There are many file formats that are accepted by Learner Work Transfer (LWT).
For GCSE Computer Science Paper 2 (1CP2/02), as the candidate’s folder containing all the files created during the examination will be zipped, the file format being used, and that which is supported by Learner Work Transfer (LWT), is the .zip file format.
Please ensure files are not password protected as the application is secure and encrypted.
Unsupported file formats are prevented from being directly uploaded to the sample request. If you need to upload materials in an unsupported file format, please convert the document to a zip file and upload it. Further guidance on file formats can be found here.
The window for submitting candidate work is: Tuesday 21st May 2024 after the exam through to Thursday 23rd May 2024 at 12pm (BST).
