Effective from 01 August 2025, the following terminology will change as outlined in Annex B of the Apprenticeship Funding Rules 2025-2026 document:
- Apprenticeship Assessment will replace End-Point Assessment
- Assessment Organisation will replace End-Point Assessment Organisation
- Gateway to Completion will replace Gateway
All the appropriate guidance documents and support will be updated in due course to reflect these changes. Please ensure to use the correct terms when searching for support.
Gateway refers to the requirements that need to be met in order for the employer to put forward their apprentice for EPA. It ensures that all apprentices have completed the mandatory aspects of the occupational standard and any work that underpins specified assessment methods and that employers believe an apprentice is occupationally competent at the point they enter gateway.
- Green represents that the apprentice has successfully entered and moved onto another stage in the EPA journey
- Orange indicates the current stage of the apprentice's EPA journey

| In Training | Apprentice records have been added to ACE360 - no gateway evidence uploaded. |
| Gateway in Progress | Apprentice records with one or more pieces of gateway evidence uploaded. |
| Gateway Evidence Complete | Apprentice records where all required gateway components have evidence uploaded. |
| Denied EPA | Apprentice records that have had gateway evidence reviewed by the Lead IQA or a member of the EPA Delivery team and it has been rejected for a specific reason. Please refer to the rejection notes for details. |
| Gateway Submitted | Apprentice records submitted by the training provider/college to Pearson for gateway review. Awaiting the Lead IQA or a member of the EPA Delivery team to review and provide an overall decision. |
| Approved for EPA | Apprentice records that Pearson has reviewed and accepted gateway evidence have been accepted. Apprentices are deemed to be ready for their EPA. |
| EPA in Progress | Apprentice records with one or more pieces of EPA evidence uploaded. For example, knowledge test results. |
| EPA Evidence Complete | Apprentice records where all required EPA components have got evidence uploaded. |
| EPA Failed | Apprentice has unfortunately been unable to meet all the KSBs (knowledge, skills, and behaviours) required to pass their EPA. |
| EPA Passed | Apprentice has successfully met the minimum required KSBs (knowledge, skills, and behaviours) and has passed their EPA. |
