Important Update for ESOL assessments from September 2024
As part of our commitment to constantly improving our qualifications and ensuring that your customer voice is heard, we have made some minor amendments to our ESOL assessments. You can find more detail on these changes in the following blog post, Amendments to Pearson’s ESOL Assessments.
In addition, new versions of our sample assessments materials (SAMs) for 24/25 are available on website, please see below for details of where to locate them.
To locate sample exam papers, please follow the steps below:
- Access the main English for Speakers of Other Languages qualification page.
- Select the appropriate English for Speakers of Other Languages level.
- On the next page, click on the 'Course materials' tab towards the top of the page.
- On this page, click on the tab 'Specification and sample assessments' on the left-hand navigation pane.
- Then select 'Sample assessment material' from the list on the right hand side. This will expand the list of documents in this category.
- Select the required document name to download it.
Exemplar Speaking and Listening Materials for ESOL
We have created exemplar Speaking and Listening videos to assist with understanding how to conduct the Speaking and Listening assessments and complete the Learning Outcome and Unit Achievement Record sheets. These can be found on the English for Speakers of Other Languages qualification page by following the steps above.
Download the zip file to access the materials. The zip file for each level contains:
- exemplar recordings of each task for the assessment
- completed Learning Outcome and Unit Achievement Record sheets with annotations from the Senior Standards Verifier regarding best practice.
