To help you have as smooth a results day as possible, we’ve created general guidance for essential results processes.

Once you’ve followed the advice and information, links to support articles provide the necessary details to help resolve any general issues.

Please select from the options linked below to see detailed guidance:

FAQ
1. Checklist - have you completed...?
Mark Submission & Certificate Claims (Vocational Qualifications)

UK Centres must have added all internally assessed unit grades for certificating learners by 5 July, along with a 'full award claim' indicating they are ready to receive results in August 2026.

This applies to all BTEC qualifications where learners expect to receive their overall qualification result on the August learner results day.

Where claims are made after the 5 July deadline, we cannot guarantee that your learners will receive a result in August.

Please see: Certification: BTEC/NVQ Claims for support with making claims on Edexcel Online.

Vocational Qualifications Learner Tracker

You can continue to monitor your learners' status in the VQ Learner Tracker.
You should check to see if there are any outstanding actions listed against learners that you are expecting to receive a result for this academic year.

Cash-in Codes

Tech Awards (from Sept 2022)
UK centres that have candidates completing their award this summer will need to have entered a cash-in code to collate their individual component results into a final grade. Please see BTEC Tech Awards 2022: Entering Cash-in Codes on Edexcel Online for support.

You must follow the terminal rule when cashing in for your learners, please see: BTEC Tech Awards (2022): Understanding the terminal rule.

International A Level & International GCSE
International candidates intending to cash-in their unit scores for a subject grade must have the appropriate cash-in codes entered to ensure an overall grade; for detailed entry and cash-in support, please see: International Entries.

Please note: if you are a British Council centre, please follow the agreed process.

If you have any late cash-in requests, please see Late Cash-In Requests for detailed guidance.

For guidance using the International A Level calculator, please see: International A Level (IAL) Eligibility Calculator Guidance.

Special Consideration Late Requests

Learners who were absent (within reason) from their external assessment can apply for an 'assessed grade' (also known as an aegrotat) to be input by Pearson for their missed June 2026 assessment, provided they are due to certificate this year, via the Special Consideration process.

All applications must by now have been submitted.

Where appropriate, please see Special Considerations: Late Request.

EDI/A2C Test Files

You should have received an EDI test file from the Pearson eProcessing team by 3 July 2026. This file has been sent to ensure that over the results period, you can correctly receive your results files from us.

This file will have the naming convention R*centre number*14.X99 and will contain the following message:
"This is a test file to ensure you can receive EDI files from Pearson ahead of results day. As you can see in this message, you do not need to take any action."

Please check you have received this file, and if you have any issues, please contact us as soon as possible.

A2C Application Settings

Before results day, make sure you check the polling settings on the A2C application. If you enable automatic polling, this will automatically check the connection to your awarding organisations.

We encourage you to enable automatic send/receive in the settings menu over the results period, as A2C will then automatically send and receive files based on the send/receive frequency selected.

Please remember to click Save after making any changes to these settings.

Early Certification

A centre may apply for early certification free of charge for the May/June exam series only if a University place is at stake. You must inform us by 31 August 2026 to receive your certificate in mid-September.

Please see: Certification: Early Release for additional details.

Diacritical Marks

If you need to add diacritical marks, they cannot be added via Edexcel Online (EOL) or EDI files. After you have processed your entries, please email eprocessing@pearson.com with the following details:

  • Centre details
  • Candidate details
  • Entry details
  • the diacritical marks required
2. A2C / BTEC EDI Results Files

Centres will only receive BTEC EDI results files for BTEC qualifications through EDI/A2C if they have made their entries through EDI and submitted a BTEC EDI results request (also known as a 7b) file.
If BTEC entries were not made via EDI, the results cannot be supplied in this way and must be accessed via Edexcel Online (EOL).

Please note: A results request (7B) file is not required for BTEC Tech Awards. This will be sent automatically to centres.

Centres will receive results files for Academic qualifications regardless of how entries were made.

Q: Have you not received your results file?
A: If you are expecting a results file but cannot see it, please see A2C: Results Files (Including 7B files) Not Received.

Q: Do you have a red status light against Pearson?
A: If you have a red light status next to Pearson, please see A2C: No Pearson Connection.

For detailed information, please see A2C & EDI/Basedata Information And Support.

3. Key Results Dates & Release Times

For information about Results dates and release times for each qualification, please see Results Dates: Edexcel Online & EDI File Release Day/Times.

4. Edexcel Online (EOL) Access

It is essential to verify the access rights of all your centre’s Edexcel Online accounts to ensure that profiles with access to the most sensitive information are granted only to staff members who require it.

Results files and their contents are confidential to the Head of Centre, examination office staff, and senior members of the teaching staff in the centre (during the Wednesday embargo of results period).

Please note: Following the launch of the 'released results' EOL account permission, only appropriate members of centre staff will be able to access results on the restricted results days. Teachers can have the 'released results' and/or the 'resultsplus' permission, allowing them to access data on Thursdays. Meanwhile, senior staff can have access to 'results' to gain access during the results embargo dates. This is in line with JCQ guidance.

Other teachers who need access to view results should be given ResultsPlus access, as this is designed to meet the needs of teachers to view and analyse the results for their students.

Results are available through ResultsPlus for teachers on the Thursday results days.

Please see Edexcel Online: Account Options for details of the specific account profiles required by the different staff members in the centre.

Pearson Portal Authenticator

As an additional step for securing customer and learner data, we use use our Pearson Authenticator app.

The app is used to access the following Pearson systems:

  • Edexcel Online
  • Exam Wizard
  • Learner Work Transfer Examination/Moderation
  • Learner Work Transfer Standards Verification
  • Pearson Development Hub
  • ResultsPlus
  • Pearson Support Portal
  • T Level learner and Order
  • T Level Results
  • Special Considerations Service

Please see the articles linked below for any required support:

5. Results Reports / Statement of Results (International Centres)

Please Note: On results day for General Qualifications and BTEC Tech Awards, your Statement of Results (PDF) and Broadsheet (CSV) will still be sent automatically to the mailbox of every Edexcel Online registered Examinations Officer and/or Examinations Manager at your centre, with no action needed from you.

For Vocational Qualifications / other BTEC, you can request for these reports to be sent to you via Edexcel Online.

Once requested the report will appear in your Edexcel Online mailbox within 2 hours, located at the top of the screen.

Please Note: Once you have requested your report(s), please do not repeat the request multiple times. Please keep checking for the report(s) to appear in your Edexcel Online mailbox. Multiple requests for the same report(s) can slow the platform down at peak times, delaying the delivery of the report(s) to your mailbox.

Statement of Results (International Centres)

If you do not receive a Statement of Results for a candidate, please first check to see if any results are available. Statement of results are not sent to centres automatically as this is an 'opt-in' service. Please see Statement Of Results (International Centres), which explains how to request an additional copy of the candidate's Statement of Results.

6. Grade Boundaries, Mark Schemes & Examiner Reports

For the dates, times, and locations of supportive GQ and VQ documents, please see Results Dates: Edexcel Online & EDI File Release Day/Times.

You can find grade boundaries for the latest exam series and view grade boundaries from earlier series on the following support article: Results: Grade Boundaries.

You can find direct links to grade statistic reports for the most recent exam series on the following support article: Results: Grade Statistics

Please note:

  • These articles are updated as soon as the documents become available.
  • Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC grade boundaries will be sent to the Edexcel Online exams staff mailboxes on the restricted results release day. This differs from the GQ/Tech Awards boundaries, where Exam staff can request these via the Edexcel Online results report screen.

For information on scaling for linear qualifications, please read Results: GCSE And A-Level Scaling.

7. ResultsPlus & ResultsPlus Direct
  • ResultsPlus
ResultsPlus is our online results analysis tool for teachers. Included as part of your qualification fees, ResultsPlus gives you a detailed breakdown of your students performance in Pearson Edexcel exams and BTEC external assessments.
For more information, please see the following guide: ResultsPlus Step-by-Step Guide - PDF Download

  • ResultsPlus Direct
ResultsPlus Direct is a free online service that gives students a detailed breakdown of their performance in Edexcel exams.
If you wish to register your students for ResultsPlus Direct, please follow our step-by-step guide.
If your centre already offers ResultsPlus Direct service, you can guide your students to ResultsPlus Direct FAQs.

Please note: teachers can access results on the official results day via ResultsPlus no earlier than 6:00 am. Results are released to students on ResultsPlus Direct from 9:00 am on results days.

8. UCAS

Results are sent to UCAS according to an agreed schedule between all Awarding Bodies and UCAS.

  • UCAS for General Qualifications
Results for general qualifications taken in the Summer exam series are sent to UCAS a week before Level 3 results day. UCAS will add results to matched applicants and send results to their Higher Education Provider (HEP).

Amendment files are sent daily (Monday to Friday, excluding public holiday days) from August to the beginning of October. This captures any late awards and grade changes.

For assistance in calculating UCAS tariffs, please see:

  • UCAS for BTEC
Pearson can only match BTEC learners with UCAS applications if the learner has provided their details to UCAS. If the learners BTEC registration details were not provided to UCAS, we won’t have matched them. Candidates should contact UCAS to provide their BTEC information.

Learners who have topped up or transferred since submitting their UCAS application should contact UCAS to ensure their information is up to date with their current programme. You can also contact us with the details (UCAS number and scheme code) so we can match and inform UCAS.

  • UCAS Applications FAQs
For answers to frequently asked questions about sending student results to UCAS, including the schedule for sending results and amendment files, please see:
    9. Post-Results Services (PRS)

If you're a centre concerned about a student's results, you can use our post-results services. All Exams Officers can request post-results services, but you must get permission from students before applying.

We offer the following Reviews of Marking and Moderation (RoMM) services:

    • Clerical check (Service 1)
    • Review of marking of externally assessed components (Service 2)
    • Priority of marking of externally assessed components (Service P2)
    • Review of moderation for the internally assessed/externally moderated controlled assessment and coursework components (Service 3)

You can find a detailed breakdown of each service, including the fees charged in Post-Results Services (PRS): RoMM Services & Access to Scripts.

For information on fees for Service 2 and Service 2P for GCSE and A Level Drama and Service 3 for GCSE, A level and BTEC (NQF) Art and Design, which are charged differently, please see: Art and design, drama and languages post-results services (from 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2026).

Please see Post-Results Services (PRS): Overview of Services for information on which services are available for which unit/component.

    Further support:

Please note: T-Levels, which are separate to our General and Vocational qualifications, have different deadlines and fees. Information on Post Results Services (PRS): How To Apply For T Level.

    Access to Scripts

Access to Scripts (ATS) is an online service, included as part of your qualification fees, that allows you to view electronically marked scripts online or download them in PDF format.

Please note: if your scripts were not marked online, you can still request free copies, but these will not appear on the script portal. More information on traditionally marked script, including how to apply.

Important: The Access to Scripts (ATS) service will be not be available for all material uploaded to the Learner Work Transfer portal.
This means you will no longer have to wait for our processing team to respond to any ATSC request with the examiner’s mark breakdown to support any Review of Marking or Moderation decisions.
From learner results day, the Learner Work Transfer (LWT) portal will be available for you to view the material previously submitted and which the examiner has based his marks on. Additional LWT guidance.
To access the breakdown of marks for individual questions on the learner material, please see our ResultsPlus web page.

Please note: Written permission must be obtained from candidates before scripts can be accessed.

For more information on ATS services, please see Post-Results Services (PRS): Access To Scripts / Script Viewer Service.

Important information: The on-demand Access to Scripts service is not available for T Levels. Please follow the guidance in the dedicated T-Level post-results support article.

Access to Scripts – Post Review of Marking (ATSPE)

This service allows you to request a copy of an exam paper once it has been reviewed as part of a Review of Marking or Moderation (RoMM) service. It includes a copy of the marked exam paper, sent electronically as a PDF or as a printed hard copy.

This service should be requested at the same time as the Review of Marking request. The fee for this service is £15.00 per script.

    How to apply

For information on how to apply for Post-results services, please see the following articles:

    10. Appeals

A centre that is dissatisfied with the outcome of a review of marking or moderation (RoMM), special consideration or access arrangement request, or malpractice determination may wish to appeal against the decision. For detailed information, including grounds for appeal, appeal process and fees, please see the Post-Results: Appeals article.

Please also take a look at our Appeals overview guide, which provides a summary of the appeals process for 2025, and our guidance on submitting an appeal that will help centres (and private candidates) decide whether to submit an appeal.

        12. New information for 2026: Middle East support, Digital Credentials, Remote Invigilation, & AAQs

        Middle East support

Pease stay up to date with the latest support and guidance, including results release, for centres affected by the conflict in the Middle East using our dedicated webpage.

        Digital Credentials

This summer we are issuing digital credentials to UK learners completing Vocational Qualifications (excluding BTEC Tech Awards).

Please find further guidance in the below support index, will explain how you can organise for these digital credentials to be made available to your learners via our Credly platform:

        Remote Invigilation

Results are issued to centres in the normal way the day prior to results day.

        AAQs

This will be the first time that results are issued for our new AAQs/BTEC Nationals (2025 onwards). These will be provided to centres in the normal way the day prior to results day, so you shouldn’t notice much difference compared to previous years.

One of the main differences relates to learner eligibility and how a Near Pass unit grade affects a learner’s ability to achieve an overall grade. Please see a more detailed breakdown of the changes in the below support article:
