Approvals: Additional Qualifications

To request additional BTEC programme approval using Edexcel Online, please see the instructions below. You may be eligible to gain instant approval for BTEC vocational qualifications. The approval decision is based on set criteria, in which you will be instantly informed of the decision and next steps.

1. Log in to Edexcel Online, and select 'BTEC & Functional Skills' from the qualification drop-down box in the upper left-hand corner of the page:  

  
2. Select 'Request for Qualification Approval', then 'Qualification Approval' from the menu on the left-hand side of the page:  

3. If you know the Qualification Number required, please enter this into the search box below and click 'Search'.

If you don't, you can search for qualifications by type and sector (subject area), you will then be able to select all or specific qualifications. 

4. Agree to the terms and conditions of approval and select 'Submit':

If unsuccessful, please complete the vocational qualification approval form for BTEC & Functional Skills qualifications, available via the link on the above Edexcel Online page.

Please ensure that you use the Approvals Handbook to support your application.  

Once approved as a Pearson centre for general qualifications, you can offer the full suite of academic Pearson qualifications (GCSEs, A Levels, etc.) 

If you are looking to add a new subject to your existing approval, there's no need for additional approval to do this. If, for example, you're approved to offer our Edexcel GCSEs, you can deliver all subjects within this qualification family.

T Level Technical qualifications

You must still become approved by the relevant Awarding Organisation to deliver the Technical Qualification that forms the substantial part of the T Level. You will need to be approved for each Technical Qualification you wish to deliver.  

We are unable to offer Auto Approval for our providers offering similar qualifications.

We are unable to provide a fast-track approval option.

As an Awarding Organisation, we have a responsibility to make sure you have everything in place to deliver the Technical Qualification. We also need to make sure you understand our Quality Assurance processes and have the correct policies and processes in place to deliver live assessments and examinations.

Once your application forms have been completed and submitted, completion times can vary. This is due to differences in the requirements for some qualifications and also where inspection visits may need to be scheduled. 

Please be aware that public holidays and bank holidays may also impact approval completion timescales.
