BTEC Results days

Please see Results Dates: Edexcel Online & EDI File Release Day/Times to confirm when results are available for each assessment series.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

The EDI file is available in 2 different file formats.

If you require the EDIFACT format, please email eprocessing@pearson.com. Alternatively, If you require the JCQ format, please send the 7B file to Pearson before 31/05/2024.

Please note: If you are unsure which EDI file format you require, additional information about Management Information Systems (MIS) can be found on our website here

We recommend that you send these files to us as soon as possible, as this will ensure we can resolve any potential queries before August.

All EDI results files are sent on the morning of the corresponding results day.

Please note: Even if you send us a 7B file, you still need to make a full award claim for each learner on Edexcel Online.

Submitting a 7B file does not replace centres making claims. It simply informs us which learners centres have or will be making full award claims for each summer series.

For example, if you send us a 7B file but still need to make full awards claims for the learners, the information in the file will show each learner's grade as a Q (pending) grade.

Please select from the options below:

How to get a 7B file:

  • Log in to Edexcel Online, choose BTEC & Functional Skills, then select EDI Basedata from the left-hand menu options.
  • Change the Basedata Subtype drop-down to Results Entry 7B, make sure the Approval Year is 2023/24 and the Programme drop-down is All Approved Programmes.
  • Click Submit and JCQ basedata will be emailed to you.
  • You can then import this basedata into your MIS and create your own Results Entry 7B results request file for the learners you need results for, which you can then send to us via A2C.
  • The above steps are also included in the below video guide.

Please note:
  • At the time stamp 0:08, the video instructs/shows you to select the BTEC qualification from the drop-down menu; this menu has recently been updated. Please ensure you select 'BTEC & Functional Skills'.
  • At the time stamp 1:09, the video states the basedata will be sent to your Edexcel Online mailbox within two hours. The basedata file is now delivered within two hours to the email address registered on Edexcel Online.

Once received, this can be imported into your centres Management Information System (MIS).

Changes to learner information

To ensure that your results in August are correct, learner details in the Results Entry 7B file must exactly match the current learner registration details. If a learner has been transferred between programmes (for example, from a Diploma to a Certificate) after your original 7B file has been submitted, please send us a new file with the updated details.

The 7B Results file is for overall award results only. Results for external assessments are only available by EDI file if the test bookings were made via EDI.

Please Note: In preparation for August results days, a test file is sent to all centres receiving their results via A2C/EDI. These centres will receive an EDI file test via A2C with the naming convention 'R*centre number*14.X99'. This file will be sent to your centre's A2C inbox by 30 of June.

To check the file has been received, please go to your A2C inbox and press the "send/receive" button. If the file does not appear in your A2C inbox, please check your logs. If you still cannot see the file, please contact us.
